This painting was done for a project in WCW. The topic was white.  It was really fun to do, but alot of layering to get the shadows deep enough.

Hi all, Had some time over the weekend to do a watercolor of a parrot for my watercolor group.

I had some trouble with the yellow, as it seemed to dominate the painting when I photographed it, but the little guy is growing on me.

Hi all, Well I am still working on my painting. It seems to be slow going right now, but hopefully it will come together soon. It is a nice sunny day today, a perfect one to be in my studio doing what I love.

Hi friends and painters.  I am getting ready to enter  2 of my paintings into the San Diego fair art exhibit. I just have to think of which 2 I want to enter. The deadline to register is tonight, so wish me luck.

Here is the latest WIP I am working on. We are supposed to paint a painting using a tetrad color scheme which is using 4 colors that make a square or a rectangle on the color wheel. I have chosen Cad yellow, vermillion, mauve, and windsor blue. I love irises so  this is a joy to paint.

Hi all, and hope everyone is well.

I have just completed this latest painting. I got to reference from suzannewi on webshots. I think this is my favorite painting I have done in awhile. I used a limited pallette of various oranges and blues to create  a soft appearance. When you want to get luminosity in you paintings, you should try to paint with just one layer, because added layers tend to dull that color. FYI

I have been really busy this week, but just finished this one called "Le Chef Cafe".  It is from a reference photo I got from a friend on Webshots. I love cafes,   so I really enjoyed painting this one. I mixed all the blacks in this by using ulramarine blue and burnt sienna. It makes a really beautiful black that can be used as a warm or cold color depending on how you mix it.

I just finished this one of some bluejays. It was fun to do. We don't see too many of these in So Cal, so this brought back some childhood memories.

Happy New Year everyone. Well, as  I start 2010, I hope to find new creativity and paint better than ever. I think our painting and talent evolve together as will grow with our knowledge and desire to put our feelings on paper. It is that desire that feed us. Here is a painting I finished last year. It brought back memories of playing dolls with my sisters, and is was a joy to paint. Life just seemed simpler then.
