This is one I just finished called Sunny Day Geraniums. It is for the WCW group I belong to on Yahoo. We are doing shadow studies this month. We all need to pay attention to shadows that we see. You would be amazed at all the different colors reflected in them. I t is so easyto just paint the shadows in purple hues, but I challenge you to start looking at shadows and see if you can see different colors, and paint them in your paintings.Bobbi Pricehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11089393172137051674noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7178898101377820088.post-41590512471489557262011-06-29T16:09:00.000-07:002011-06-29T16:09:48.755-07:00Mukilteo Lighthouse
<img border="0" height="320" i$="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PtxFLVqEXdY/Tguv2rUWeBI/AAAAAAAAAJY/Rw4pYNTx06o/s320/Mukilteo+Lighthouse.JPG" width="228" />
I just finished this for a project on my online watercolor group WCW. This month's theme was anything having to do with the ocean. The reference photo was given to me from C.B.Clements who graciously gave me permission to use it. I am not happy with how this one came out, although I do like the clouds. I think it is important to share even the not so great paintings so that everyone can see that we all have our bad days with our art. We need to realize that these mistakes help su to grow as artists, and we need to just keep on painting and dont get discouraaged.Bobbi Pricehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11089393172137051674noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7178898101377820088.post-87880494634839086422011-05-25T14:37:00.000-07:002011-05-25T14:37:04.073-07:00Home Grown

Here is the final painting. I added more color to the lettuce, painted the knife color in, and defined the veggies some more. I also started on the bricks in the background by lightly brushing in the color so that it gave the texture of bricks. I am not happy with the table and will have to really work to getting that to look better.Bobbi Pricehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11089393172137051674noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7178898101377820088.post-29242854153572793422011-05-21T10:58:00.000-07:002011-05-21T10:58:09.242-07:00New WIP

I thought I would share my next WIP that I am working on. Hi friends and painters. I am getting ready to enter 2 of my paintings into the San Diego fair art exhibit. I just have to think of which 2 I want to enter. The deadline to register is tonight, so wish me luck.
Here is the latest WIP I am working on. We are supposed to paint a painting using a tetrad color scheme which is using 4 colors that make a square or a rectangle on the color wheel. I have chosen Cad yellow, vermillion, mauve, and windsor blue. I love irises so this is a joy to paint.Bobbi Pricehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11089393172137051674noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7178898101377820088.post-71806914585198501732010-04-18T17:53:00.000-07:002010-04-18T17:57:37.248-07:00Hi all, and hope everyone is well.
I got to reference from suzannewi on webshots. I think this is my favorite painting I have done in awhile. I used a limited pallette of various oranges and blues to create a soft appearance. When you want to get luminosity in you paintings, you should try to paint with just one layer, because added layers tend to dull that color. It is from a reference photo I got from a friend on Webshots. I love cafes, so I really enjoyed painting this one. I mixed all the blacks in this by using ulramarine blue and burnt sienna. It makes a really beautiful black that can be used as a warm or cold color depending on how you mix it.Bobbi Pricehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11089393172137051674noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7178898101377820088.post-48905357407945497152010-02-22T17:48:00.000-08:002010-02-22T17:49:39.847-08:00Hi friends.

Happy New Year everyone. Well, as I start 2010, I hope to find new creativity and paint better than ever. I think our painting and talent evolve together as will grow with our knowledge and desire to put our feelings on paper. It is that desire that feed us. Here is a painting I finished last year. It brought back memories of playing dolls with my sisters, and is was a joy to paint. Life just seemed simpler then.Bobbi Pricehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11089393172137051674noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7178898101377820088.post-54551955858063982802010-01-02T14:38:00.000-08:002010-01-02T14:38:04.959-08:00

Happy New Year to everyone. I hope this year will bring new creativity to all our art and many new masterpieces to share. I did this raggety ann doll before Christmas but never posted it. (I could have sworn I did) So I will share it with you now. She was so much fun to paint, and brought back memories of playing with a doll just like this one when I was little.Bobbi Pricehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11089393172137051674noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7178898101377820088.post-60202749116656567832009-12-26T14:00:00.000-08:002009-12-26T14:00:01.455-08:00I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. I spent the day with family and it was very enjoyable, except I have a horrible head cold an couldn't taste anything, Bummer!!! I have attached a picture of my Christmas card for this year. I know, I should have posted it before Christmas but was just too busy. The card was featured on Empty Easel. http://www.emptyeasel.com/ You can click on the link and then click on LATEST ARTICLE. It was a very nice Christmas present an quite an honor.

I have been away for awhile. I just back back from visiting my family in Detroit. It was the first time all six brothers and sisters have been together in about three years. We had lots of fun, and it was definitely too short of a visit, but I am ready to be painting again. Here is a picture of the 6 of us.
